Study on the Utilization of Iron Tailings in Ultra-High-Performance Concrete: Fresh Properties and Compressive Behaviors

In this paper iron tailing sand (TS) are used as aggerate to develop ultra high-performance concrete (UHPC). The mix proportion of UHPC is designed and TS were added by 25%, 50%, 75% 100% (wt.%, i.e., weight percentage) replace natural river sand. Firstly, the influence on slurry behavior was carried out. experimental result indicates that with continuously increasing content TS, workability decreases, while air increases. Considering workability, optimal replacing dosage should be less than 50%. Then, tests for hardened specimens taken. compressive micro-porosity deteriorate strength had a positive linear relationship which indicated decline mainly due loss flowability. Finally, autogenous shrinkages different also tested. At same time, micro-structure discussed, TS. Therefore, comprehensively considering behavior, shrinkage much 50% aggregate could replaced when developing UHPC.
